American Beauty

這是部從頭到尾都讓我很緊張的片，因為Kevin Spacey在電影的旁白部份就有預告他會死去的情節，只是不知道究竟是誰殺死他，直到結尾的部份，就是讓觀眾感受到那種beauty的高潮。Kevin Spacey因為這部片拿到Best Actor in a Leading Role，當之無愧！Sam Mendes也拿到Best Director。主要大獎幾乎都被這部片包走了。

Spacey飾演有中年危機的Lester Burnham，但他決定要改變他的生活，全因為他對女兒的同學Angela開始有著一些幻想。整部片的角色或是一些情節都有某種程度的inappropriateness，可是全部融合在一起之後的組合卻可以有完全不同的效果，結局採用Lester死去的那瞬間的旁白帶出剩下的故事，那真的就是beauty。另一個也很美的就是電影海報的設計！我更喜歡配樂。Thomas Newman的音樂有個特性，都有種類似鈴鐺那種「鈴鈴鈴」的聲音，The Green Mile也是如此。

American Beauty的優點在於每個角色都那麼恰到好處，Annette Bening也可以演得這麼hysteria。不過我最討厭的就是演他女兒的Thora Birch，以前高中全班看The Hole這個大爛片就開始討厭她，因為她給我感覺是：She fucking creeps me out.

最後貼上我最喜歡的台詞：I had always heard your entire life flashes in front of your eyes the second before you die. First of all, that one second isn't a second at all; it stretches on forever, like an ocean of time... For me, it was lying on my back at Boy Scout camp, watching falling stars... And yellow leaves, from the maple trees that lined my street... Or my grandmother's hands, and the way her skin seemed like paper... And the first time I saw my cousin Tony's brand new Firebird... And Janie... And Janie... And... Carolyn. I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst... And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life...
